My Love Story With THE Lipbalm.

Once upon a time, in about 2006, a young girl was gifted a Crabtree & Evelyn Lip Balm that went by the name of "Jojoba Oil". She loved it, and it loved her. However, things took a dark turn when this lip balm decided to slowly decrease in size....... eventually ending in the death of the poor thing. The girl was devastated, she tried desperately to replace her love by trying to find it's descendants at it's home, but it appeared to difficult as none could be found. She tried other kinds of lip balms to fill her void, but none were the same. She even looked all over the globe to find just one that was the same... no such luck. And so, she kept on with her life, never quite forgetting and never quite as happy.

Until, in the glorious month of September in 2014 she found A DESCENDANT AT LAST! All her Christmases had come at once and she thanked all the gods for this magnificent miracle.

Okay, in all seriousness guys, this lip balm is honestly the best i've ever tried and I cannot recommend it enough. And i've tried my fair share. It killed me when it appeared to be discontinued - I even signed myself up to an email notification system in case it ever came back in stock.

It has a really lovely texture, really moisturising yet not slippery like some can get, it doesn't have a bad taste and lasts a long time.

So get your butts to the shops and buy it while it's still there - you might run into me buying about 20 more so I never have to be without it.

Gloss in Love

Lancome has relatively new lipgloss range out at the moment called "Gloss in Love" and I'm lucky enough to have a box set of four different colours out of the range. This box includes "Violette Paillette", "Pink Carat", "Glitter Mania" and "Under the Spotlight" which are honestly all delicious colours. Normally I would say that anything coral toned is my favourite, but surprisingly out of these four my favourite is Violette Paillette. It is such a gorgeous colour when put on the lips, not too red or pink - it's just right. The formula for these lipglosses is just right too, not sticky, it glides on the lips easily and stays put for around three-four hours. If you aren't too fussed with putting on lipstick, then these are a good substitution as they give the right amount of colour to the lips without being too drying. They would also work well over a lipstick to give it some sparkle, especially Glitter Mania which has less colour payoff than the rest but glitters the most just like the title promises. The dufour applicator of these is unique as it is moulded to shape around your lip, therefore making application easier - especially in the car. The other great thing about this particular box set, not just the lipglosses themselves, is that you get to try out several at once which I love. Also, Emma Watson was the face of this campaign so... why not try it out right? You can't go wrong.

My June Bathroom Shelf

I go through a lot of phases when it comes to skin care and I just thought I would tell you about my recent one that i've been using for about two-three months.

First I use the "Gentle Skin Cleanser" by Cetaphil to wash and cleanse my face. It takes off any makeup and seems to clean my face well. If I have heavy makeup on, it will take a bit of scrubbing to get off and maybe two pumps of the Cetaphil but it does work. It's easy, better than plain soap and inexpensive. Here it is if you'd like to buy it.

Secondly, I use St. Ives "Green Tea Scrub" as an exfoliator. This stuff is great, it comes out in a heavy green paste and only a small amount (maybe three peas worth, size wise) is needed to cover the entire face. You gently rub it in and there are little beads that exfoliate your skin, you can also leave it on for longer to exfoliate even more. I use it about three times a week and it appears to be working rather well. This is it here and it's also rather inexpensive and smells like green tea which is soothing :)

Finally, a christmas present from this year was "Cranberry Joy Body Scrub"  from The Body Shop and I have recently started using it. I use a small amount about once or twice a week, place it on my body and using a sponge thingy (one of these) I work it into my skin. It comes out as a thin gooey consistency with little beads in it, but scrubs up to become white and foamy. This scrub moisturises like heaven, smells like Christmas and is great all round. However, it was limited edition at Christmas, so is gone now but may be back at the end of the year - so keep you eye out! However, do not despair, The Body Shop has several other body scrubs just like this one that you can get currently.

I hope this has helped you a little bit, or given you some inspiration for creating your own skin/shower regime :)

My Quick Skin Fix

My skin isn't particularly bad and it never really has been, but I do get blemishes now and again obviously (who has perfect skin?!). But who wants to even leave their house (or bedroom) when they have less than wonderful skin? I know I don't.

Garnier PureActive "2in1 Anti-Spots Roll-On" is honestly my saviour in times like those (now I have that song stuck in my head).

It applies like concealer and basically dries out the imperfection and it goes away within 12 hours. So if you apply it at night, it'll be gone by the morning :) It looks like concealer too, so you can use this as both a concealer and a spot remover (i.e. the name of the product... bet you all got that without me telling you too...).

If this strikes your fancy, here it is. :)

Hope you're all swell!

Apocalips by Rimmel

The bold lip. Honestly? It scares me a little, especially if it is in a shade other than coral or pink (this is only on me of course, I love it on others).

Rimmel has come up with a definite bold lip product, but it's not a lipstick, it's a combination of a lip gloss and a lipstick. Apocalips have a runny texture like a lip gloss but they stay on like a lipstick. This product is super long wear, it is simple to apply with the applicator and they give a gorgeous glossy finish.

I currently own two of the Apocalips:

Stellar which is a pink/coral/red gloss and it is really really bright and vibrant - the definition of a bold lip I say.

Celestial which is almost a mauve colour - it is wonderful for subdued looks, maybe during the winter with a grey jumper on (just an idea obviously). It is bold and yet subtle at the same time, perfect if you are a little taken aback by how strong these apply first go.

The great thing about these (apart from the staying power and the glossy-ness) is that they can be a way to ease yourself into a bold lip, rather than going straight for a matte red lipstick. If these have taken your fancy, you can find them here.

Witchery Lipglosses

Now honestly I love a good lipgloss and Witchery is possibly my favourite shop, so when my favourite shop makes a lipgloss, well, it's really just perfection isn't it?

Probably about 4 times a year Witchery comes out with a new range of lip products which include the "Lip Gloss Wands". The lip gloss wands won my heart a couple of years back and they still have it. Currently I have two of the afore mentioned products, one called "flame" which is a gorgeous orange colour and another which goes by the name "mulberry" and is a sparkly-purply-browny colour. The application of flame is sheer and doesn't necessarily lend itself to be built up whereas mulberry gives a lot more colour in the first coat and can be built on more. They aren't extremely long-lasting, especially if you are eating or drinking, however they are perfect for over lipstick as they are thin in consistency and give a real shine to the lips. They also aren't at all sticky which is marvellous :D

If these lip glosses do take your fancy, you can find them here. However, they will be in different colours because they change their stock so regularly - it keeps it interesting right!? (But it depresses me because I love these colours and what happens when I run out!?).

Stay Wonderful,

The First Pastel of the Season

So I recently acquired this Rimmel London 60 seconds polish. It is in a gorgeous shade of lilac, to be more precise "620 How do you lilac it?". I found that it was super easy to put on - it has a wide brush that means it's easier to paint your nail and avoid streaks. Not only that but it only needed two coats and dried rather fast I found. It gives a wonderful shinny, almost jelly-like, finish which is also marvellous. I am really impressed by the staying power of this polish! I painted my nails on Monday and it hasn't chipped and it's now Thursday night. That, i'd say, is pretty damn good!

I called this post the first of the pastels because it seems pastel-enough to enter that category... well, at least I think so - thoughts? I'm thinking a mint green is next... I have my eye on Mint Candy Apple by Essie....

Rimmel certainly gets my thumb of approval for this one. If you're looking for a nice pastel, but not too pastel, go for this one! You can get it here.

Hope you're all well!

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon

This is the first "crayon" type lipstick product i've tried. Yeah yeah, I know I'm a little late to the party.... okay a lot late to the party. I'm a huge fan of lipgloss - something about the shinny-pretty-SPARKLY-wonderfulness of it - and I thought that this would give me that and possibly more of the sophistication of lipsticks? And staying power.

Boy was I right! The Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon gives a marvellous amount of staying power, I mean I put it on in the morning and it was still there after eating lunch. There is a definite sophistication to this product too. But the thing I love the most about this crayon product is that it gives a shinny-pretty-SPARKLY-wonderful effect to your lips... exactly what i'd hoped for. It definitely manages to pull off a cross between a lipstick and a lipgloss and I love it.

I got it in the shade "04 Peach on the Beach" purely because I am lacking in peach products and it looks extremely wearable. I think it gives me exactly what I want and satisfies my need for a peach lip product... for now.

There are three more colours and I can safely say I will try and get my hands on them, especially the gorgeous orange colour they have. What can I say? I cave for any coral-ish shades.

I hope that you all try this product out, if not on my recommendation, but on the rest of the beauty world's.

You can buy it here.
